Today's morning job was cleaning carpets for a repeat client of mine in Sacramento CA. This is an older white carpet with a lot of miscellaneous spills and stains so some stains are permanent and it does show areas that are worn out still after cleaning.

Carpet is made of fibers so it can be permanently stained or damaged and no amount of cleaning can restore it back to new, but a deep steam cleaning is still recommended once or twice a year to remove what is embedded in the carpet and make as much of an improvement as possible to prolong the life of the carpet before replacing.

We don't get asked this too often but most of our customers that call in request to have their carpets steam cleaned, which is when we use very hot water (steam) that can get up to 260 degrees fahrenheit to rinse the carpet while disinfecting and cleaning. At the same time we use a high powered vacuum from our truck mounted equipment to suck all the dirty water and bacteria out to a waste tank in our van.

There are benefits to having your carpets cleaned with low moisture, or what most people consider 'dry cleaning' like faster dry times. If you vacuum regularly, and don't have a lot of foot traffic in your home, low moisture carpet cleaning may be something you would want done.

If your carpet is very soiled or you have pet urine issues and stains, we highly recommend steam cleaning to completely rinse the carpet fibers.

Carpet will take longer to dry using steam cleaning, but it is the best way To completely rinse your carpet fibers if they are really soiled.

This job was at a condo in Sacramento for a client who needed pet urine removed! They moved all the furniture before I arrived and explained everything over the phone.

I pulled back the carpet and removed the padding because it had a lot of pet urine. After installing new padding, I cleaned and treated the carpet on both sides, then installed new padding and stretched in the carpet.

This method is the best way to completely remove pet urine odor if you have this issue.

There are many different chemicals and cleaning solutions that you can try to buy at the store, but that doesn't mean they are the right ones to use.
