New Carpet Wrinkling After 2-3 Years Past Warranty

When carpet is newly installed, there is usually a warranty on the installation covering any issues, such as seams or wrinkling in the carpet. This is usually good for 1-2 years, depending on the company that installed the carpet.

Unfortunately, after 2 years is usually when carpet will start loosening up if incorrectly installed. This is due to a few factors, with the main ones being that now the carpet is used to the ambient temperature in your home and has relaxed and loosened. Also, it has been walked on and has had furniture placed on it, making it more susceptible to loosening.

Fixing Carpet After Removing Built In Shelving

Today's client had some built-in shelves removed and needed the carpet fixed in this room in Loomis CA. They had plenty of extra carpet from the original installation since the carpet was only about 5 months old.

The main concern was to make the patched areas blend as best as they could so that they would not be noticeable, which takes skill and experience to be able to complete.

I was able to install new padding and replace the carpet sections to make the room look like one full piece.

Re-Stretching Carpet With Built-In Closet Cabinets

This job was for a client in Loomis who needed carpet re-stretched and repaired in a few areas where bubbles were starting to form in the carpet.

This job was recently installed in the past 5 years by S & G Carpet and they did a great job on everything. The problem was that this is Shaw's LifeGuard Spill-Proof carpet (which you can tell by the blue backing of the carpet) and this carpet is notorious for developing carpet wrinkles or bubbles in a short period of time after being installed. The carpet was also installed on a raised foundation which will make the carpet loosen up faster than if it was over a concrete subfloor.

Their master bedroom closet had the biggest bubble in the carpet and had built-in closet cabinets so there was more work involved in getting the carpet re-stretched. I had to treat the cabinets like a wall and cut the carpet and padding and then install tack strip before stretching the carpet back in place.

They also had an area in their hallway where the carpet connected to 2 other rooms, so I had to cut a seam in order to stretch the carpet together and finish the job.

Fixing carpet with built-in closet cabinets is more time-consuming so there is a price increase with this type of repair, but it can be done without removing the cabinets.

Repairing Pet Damaged Carpet

At this job we were called out to repair an area where a dog ripped the carpet at a master bedroom doorway. This is what we consider a medium sized repair and requires a larger patch to replace the damaged area.

We didn't have any leftover carpet to work with so we took a piece from a closet to to the repair and replaced the closet.

Carpet Cleaning & Repairs

This was a rental unit we were called out to do repairs and carpet cleaning in. There were a few areas at doorways where the carpet was frayed and damaged due to cat scratches.

After patching the damaged areas, we used our truck mounted unit to steam clean all the carpet getting this home ready to rent.
